Warren J. Miller

Warren J. Miller, 96, of Yorktown, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie.

Warren was born February 18, 1921 in Yorktown to the late Raymond and Hazel (Taylor) Miller. Warren was a lifelong Yorktown residence and attended Yorktown High School. He was a United States Army veteran serving in many areas of Europe during WWII. He also served as a guard during the Nuremberg Trials. Warren worked as plant security at Borg Warner for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He also farmed and owned Miller Butcher Shop along with working as a service manager at several car dealerships. Warren attended Mt. Pleasant Community Church in Daleville and had also attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Muncie. He was a member of the Yorktown VFW, Hoosier Model T Club, Central Indiana Old Car Club, and the Model A Restorers Club. Warren enjoyed restoring Model A and Model T cars and finding rare car parts at swap meets and flea markets.

Warren is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Allen) Miller; three step-children, Frank Griffith (wife Marty) of Muncie, Virginia Larson (husband Tom) of Barling, Arkansas, and Nancy Grile (husband Wayne) of Muncie; daughter-in-law, Susie Miller of Muncie; Brother-in-law, Dr. A. Dale Allen (wife Anita) of Waco, TX; his caregivers through his illness, Wendi Kirby of Muncie and Sue Rittenhouse of Yorktown; good friends, Nils and Jytte kjaergaurd of Denmark and Brent and  Elaine Reed of Yorktown, six step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

Warren was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Timothy Miller; and two wives, Frances Miller and Juanita Miller.

A funeral service to celebrate Warren’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Don Schlafer will officiate. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 27, 2017 and also one hour prior to services from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel.
