James A. Jackson, 82, of Gaston, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Muncie Estates.
Jim was born on Decembrer 14, 1941, to the late Homer and Eva Jackson. He was a 1960 graduate of Gaston High School. Jim worked at Chevrolet of Muncie for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Jim also worked as a Farrier. He was a member of Prairie Grove Christian Church, the Matthews Masonic Lodge, Alexandria Eagles Lodge, the Gaston Conservation Club, and a 40-year member of the NRA. Jim was a marksman who enjoyed hunting, shooting firearms and archery, calf roping, horses, and farming.
Jim is survived by four children, Katherine Blevins, Susan Mattingly, Laura Pickett, and Joseph Jackson (wife Jennifer); seven grandchildren, Justin Mattingly, Stephanie Nelson (husband Jason), Bradley Baumer (wife Katie), LeeAnne Anderson, Julia Jackson, Jillian Jackson, and Josiah Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Nelson, Melanie Nelson, and Jackson Baumer; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years before her death in 1980, Marcia Jackson; and two brothers, Donald Jackson and Clifford Jackson.
A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 4, 2024, at Prairie Grove Christian Church, 16775 N. County Road 775 W. in Gaston. Pastor Brian Wise will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2023, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston, and also one hour prior to the funeral at the Church.
