Betty Jean Janney, 83, of Gaston, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Signature Health Care Rehabilitation Center in Muncie.
Betty was born on February 9, 1935 in Owenton, KY. Betty grew up in Anderson and was a 1952 graduate of Anderson High School. She worked as Clerk Treasurer for the Town of Gaston before her retirement. Betty had also owned Law-Jean’s Dry Cleaners in Gaston. She was a member of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns and the Indiana Municipal League of Clerks and Treasurer’s. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by three children; Vicki Houser of Knightstown, Jack A. Janney of Gas City, and Traci Pittenger of Gaston; six grandchildren, Zachary Johnson, Veronica Bonewits, Tyler Janney, Jessica Kaelin, Carly Smith, and Kyle Workman; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Mary and Ray Lamb; and her father, Willard Clifton.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St., Gaston, IN 47342. Pastor Michael Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
