Garry R. Webster, 81, of Matthews, passed away November 23, 2017 in Gas City.
Garry was born on June 14, 1936 in Madison County, Indiana to the late Robert P. and Anna (Garner) Webster. He graduated from Summitville High School in 1954. His last two years of high school he worked at Swift Milk Factory. After graduation he went to work at RCA as a production worker in 1954. He upgraded to machine attendant and then to supervisor ending his career of 33 years in engineering. In 1967 he was awarded the Man of the Year Award for saving the company several million dollars. He was a proud recipient of the RCA hourly suggestion program and won many awards for ideas that were implemented by the company. In addition to working at RCA he did roofing, farmed, and trained and raced Standard Bred Horses. After his retirement, he and his wife traveled the US for 15 years enjoying most of the beautiful sights our country has to offer. After their travels, they settled down in Matthews.
Garry married Ruth (Brewer) Cummings in 1957 and had four daughters.
Garry had many good friends during his lifetime. He had a great life and was proud of his family and proud to be an American.
Garry is survived by wife of 60 years, Ruth Webster; four daughters, Kathi Richards of Gas City, Julie Armstrong-Huval of Marion, Becky Beckley (husband Stan) of Elgin, SC, and Lisa Daly (husband Shawn) of Douglas, WY; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents, and five siblings, Robert Webster, Gene Webster, Rheta Elkins, Donna Willhite, and his infant sister, Judy.
Garry will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. His ashes will be scattered at Webster Gorge in the Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming at a later date.
