John Schwarzkopf, 72, of Gaston, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at Wesleyan Health and Rehabilitation in Marion.
John was born January 5, 1946 in Bluffton, Indiana to the late Robert and Ann (Yount) Schwarzkopf. He was a 1964 graduate of Montpelier High School. John had worked as a farmer and retired in 2006 after 40 years at General Motors. John was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church and enjoyed mowing, spending time with his grandsons, and spending his winters in Bonita Springs, FL.
John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jane (Southerland) Schwarzkopf; two children, John Schwarzkopf Jr. of Naples, FL and Jodi Lasley (husband A.J.) of Noblesville; three grandsons, Drew, Josh, and Bradley Lasley all of Noblesville; a sister, Sharon Elliott of Port St. Lucie, FL; his mother-in-law, Lois Southerland of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Valentine; and a niece, Linda Needler.
A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 7, 2018, at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St., Gaston, IN 47342. Pastor Brian Allred and Pastor Michael Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Friday at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
