Linda Marie (Haste) South

Linda Marie South, 71, of Gaston, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 23, 2017.

Linda was born July 3, 1946 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Lee and Opal (Miller) Haste. She attended Harrison Township Schools. She was married Fred South Jr. for 49 years before his death in 2012. Linda worked many years at the Gaston Cabinet Factory and RCA, before retiring from Borg Warner. She enjoyed playing bingo, camping, and traveling.

Linda is survived by three daughters, Melinda (South) Stanley of Gaston, Ashley South of Muncie, and Sharon (South) Stanley of Muncie; three grandchildren, Kasey, Brook, and Freddie South all of Gaston; two great-grandchildren, Jerzee and Noah South of Gaston; two siblings, Billy Haste of Gaston and Shirley Divens (husband Dennis) of Scottsville, KY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by a sister, Martha South.

A funeral service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 27, 2017 at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston, Indiana. Pastor Michael Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Monday at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
