Ray Lee Sollars, 87, of Yorktown, passed away Monday morning, May 21, 2018, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Ray was born April 8, 1931, at Reed Station in Delaware County, Indiana to the late Floyd and Hazel (Perry) Sollars. He attended Yorktown High School and worked as a groundskeeper at Yorktown Schools. Ray attended Cammack United Methodist Church. He enjoyed attending farm shows and tractor pulls and collected miniature tractors.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Jo Sollars; four children, Danny Sollars (wife Kathy) of Dunkirk, Rex Sollars, Patti Osborne (husband Steve) of Dunnellon, FL, and Dale Stephenson Jr. (wife Judi) of Quinlan, TX; a sister, Joanna McKibben of Yorktown; two sisters-in-law, Betty Sollars of Yorktown and Margaret Stephenson of Cammack; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Gaye Sollars; and a brother, Floyd Sollars Jr.
A funeral service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St., Yorktown, IN 47396. Pastor Jerry Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.
Friends and family will gather to share and remember from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 25, 2018 and also one hour prior to his funeral service on Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel.
