Abigail Kristine (Smith) Gebo

Abigail Kristine (Smith) Gebo, 26, of Cedar Lake, IN passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Franciscan Health Crown Point following a long struggle with diabetes.

Abby was born on July 31, 1998, in Louisville, Ky to Tim and Jennifer Smith. She was a 2017 graduate of Hanover High School in Cedar Lake, IN. She went on to graduate from Ross Medical  college as a phlebotomist. Abby also earned her real estate license and was a notary public. Her most recent employment was at Munster Community Hospital. Abby attended Living Stones Church in Crown Point. She was a history buff who enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, and making TikTok videos. Her greatest joy was being a mother.

Abby is survived by her husband, Colten Gebo, son, Levi James Gebo; parents, Tim and Jennifer Smith; sister, Sarah Smith (Noah Rowland); brother, Jesse Smith; her baby nephew, Chrstopher Dean Rowland; maternal grandfather, Carl Otto Horst (Joanie); three aunts, Melinda Mulkey (Mike), Debbie Leist (Steve), and Cathy Miller; two uncles, Jeff and Danny Smith; and several cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

Abby was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Curt and Phyllis Smith; maternal grandmother, Myrtle Horst; aunt, Dianna Dillard; and uncle, David Smith.

A funeral service to celebrate Abby’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Eaton.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, January 31, 2025, and also one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
