Welcome to the memorial page for

Anna Pauline (Kiser) Mellott

September 6, 1924 ~ September 19, 2016 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Anna Pauline “Polly” Kiser Mellott, 92 passed away at Hospice of Cincinnati, on September 19, 2016. She was born September 6, 1924, in Hilda, Kentucky, and moved to Yorktown, Indiana when she was fifteen where she was a nanny for Luther and Anna Kiser, her uncle and aunt.  She lived there 71 years before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, to be closer to her children.

Pauline was an active member of the Yorktown Nazarene church beginning in 1940, serving as Missionary Secretary/Treasure, Funeral Service Committee, and volunteering in the nursery until she was 83 years old.  When she moved to Cincinnati, she held babies in nurseries at Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, until she was 87, where she was beloved by other volunteers who let her rock to her (and the babies') hearts content.

She served as a co-adult leader in the Girl Scouts from 1954-57, then led sewing groups in 4-H from 1957-1964. But her most known talent in Yorktown was quilting. Pauline's quilts are prized treasure for those who receive them. She started quilting in her early childhood with her mother and continued until her hands could no longer work the needle. She made more than 300 quilts for her family and friends - and never once used a sewing machine. Each inch of fabric had 9 individual stitches done with love. Pauline was involved with the Yorktown Christian Church’s quilters for over 60 years.  In 1985, her  “Maple Leaf” quilt placed in the top 10 in the Mountain Mist Quilt Contest in Houston, Texas. She also had quilts exhibited in various Indianapolis, Kentucky, and Ohio Quilt Shows.

But her most favorite accomplishment was being the wife of her first and only love, Charles “Budd” Mellott. They wed in Covington, KY, on November 2, 1940 and spent the next 68 years loving and laughing until his passing in 2009.

Pauline was a loving and dedicated wife, gentle mother of three children, and beloved grandmother to six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. For more than 20 years, she looked forward to summer family reunions which brought her extended family together from six states. Other wonderful trips included going back to visit her family in Morehead, Kentucky, which always warmed her heart with memories of her childhood. "Sit long and talk much," was the theme of many visits.

She is survived by one son: Richard Mellott and his wife Joyce of Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Phyllis Myer and husband Charles of Union, KY, and daughter, Helen Campo and husband Juliano of Kenosha, WI.  She has six grandchildren: Richard Mellott of Springfield, OH, Gregory Mellott of  Cookeville, TN, Stefanie (Myer) Adams of Cincinnati, OH,  Brian Myer of MaComb, MI, Shawn Doughty of Huntsville, Al, and Angelo Campo of Kenosha, WI.  She also had ten great grandchildren; Heather, Jillian, Richard, Evan, Ashley, Gretchen, Isaac, Caleb, Corey, Carter and Christine.  She was also blessed with seven great-great-grandchildren: Neveah, Leland, Jeanette Ann, T.J., Kai'ahna, Caiden, and Reese.

Mrs. Mellott was preceded in death by her parents Hiriam and Fannie Jane Kiser, four brothers; Chester, Jefferson, Wayne and Edd; and one sister Goldie Keeyes.
