Benjamin Duane Keeley, 80, of Gaston, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at his home in Gaston surrounded by his family.
Ben was born on March 7, 1945, in Muncie to the late Benjamin H. and Edith Elma Keeley. He was a 1963 graduate of Gaston High School. Ben went on to serve his country in the United States Army where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was the manager of shipping and receiving countrywide for Overhead Door in Hartford City for 37 years, retiring in 2000. Ben was a member of American Legion Post 387 where he was the Commander for 11 years. He was also a member of the AmVets Post 23, DAV, VFW, and the NRA. Ben enjoyed woodworking and was a jack of all trades.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Madeline “Jane” Keeley; three children, Benjamin “Jay” Keeley, Brett Keeley (wife Christy), and Amanda Bailey (husband Brett), ten grandchildren; eight great-granddaughters; and his dog, Zippy.
Ben was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Wright; grandson, Bostan Wine; and two sisters, Barbara Wilson and Helen Browning.
A funeral service to celebrate Ben’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember Ben’s life from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Sunday at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
