Carolyn “Sue” Sutton, 84, of Matthews, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at University Nursing Center in Upland.
Sue was born on December 2, 1937, in Hartford City to the late James and Edith VanHorn. She attended Hartford City Schools. Sue married Hobart Sutton on July 2, 1970. They were married 46 years before his death in 2017. Sue worked for Twoson Tool Co. in Matthews for many years and had also worked at the Matthew’s restaurant. She enjoyed Elvis, racing, wrestling, puzzles, bingo, and trips to Indiana Beach. Sue’s greatest joy was spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Pamela Fights Copeland; two granddaughters, Jennifer Moore (husband Jimmy) and Michelle Cassidy (husband Joseph); three great-grandchildren, Heavyn Moore, Jayden Copeland, and Clayton Cassidy; and a sister, Janet Sutton.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by her son, Garr Fights Jr.
A funeral service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, June 6, 2022, and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
