Carolyn Kay (Donovan) York

Carolyn Kay York, 81, of Muncie, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Carolyn was born on October 6, 1941, in Muncie. She was a 1959 graduate of Yorktown High School. She spent her life serving and fellowshipping with others. Some ways in which Carolyn served others was through her involvement at New Hope Church, crocheting for nursing homes through Helping Hands, caring for several children over the years, and helping with the homemaking of several clients turned friends. She especially enjoyed the companionship of her neighbors, of which many became like family, the company of her furry friend Benji, but most importantly, the time she spent with her grandchildren.   

Carolyn is survived by a son, Scott Cox; four grandchildren, Brandon Cox (wife Kimiko), Andrew Cox, Abigail Brevard (husband Michael), and Shelby Cox; seven great-grandchildren, E’va, Addisyn, Charli, Lennon, Hiroki, Marshall and Avianna; several loved nieces and nephews; as well as a special brother and 4 sisters-in-law.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Howard G. York; her father, Charles Donovan; mother, Vontella Weaver; stepfather, Ralph “Pat” Weaver; son, Greg Cox; and two brothers, Bill and Bob Donovan.

A funeral service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 21, 2023, at New Hope Church, 2720 S. Apache Pass, in Muncie. Pastor Bill Spencer will officiate. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 12:00 am until 2:00 pm on Thursday at New Hope Church.
