Cynthia Wheadon Obituary

Cynthia Sue “Cindy” Wheadon, 70, of Anderson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of May 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Cindy was born on March 21, 1953, in Los Angeles, California to the late Ellis and Virginia Wheadon. Upon moving from California, in 1963, Cindy and her family moved to Yorktown. Cindy graduated from Yorktown High School in 1971, and moved to Anderson, where she worked for American Family Insurance for many years. She later worked for Senior Home Companions, retiring as a beloved caretaker.

Cindy was truly loved by so many! She never met a stranger and was able to change the energy of an entire room with just her presence! She was gifted with a contagious laugh, a huge heart, compassionate spirit, and the uncanny ability to make anyone feel important and loved. Family and friends were not the only ones who were blessed by Cindy. She loved her many furry friends in the neighborhood, who also enjoyed her care, affection, and daily treats.  Cindy treasured spending quality time with her loved ones (especially her Grandsons), nurturing her faith, listening to music, cooking, hosting monthly card club with her friends, bird watching, and daily scratch-offs.

Cindy is survived by her friend, partner for many years, and father of their daughter, Gary Pate. She is also survived by her significant other, friend and partner in life, David Jones; Daughter, Sherry Pate (Son-in-law, Tyler Fritz); Grandsons, TJ Fritz and Trace Fritz; Brothers, Robert and Larry Wheadon; Niece, Kristi Wheadon; Nephew, Michael Wheadon (Great-nephew, Maddox Wheadon); and special lifelong friend, Rixalyn Coleman. Cindy was preceded in death by her loving mother, Virginia Wheadon; Father, Ellis Wheadon; and Sister, Shari Wheadon.

Cindy will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know and love her! Her legacy and life-giving stories will carry her loved ones left behind until we are reunited again. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date this summer.
