Donald D. Curtis, 65, of Gas City, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
Don was born May 28, 1951, in Benton County, Indiana to the late Thomas A. and Mary E. (Staggs) Curtis. He graduated from Southside High School and went on to earn his associates degree in Heating and Cooling from Ivy Tech Community College. Don was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He had worked for Huckleberry Heating and Air and also Trout’s Heating and Cooling. He had also worked as a truck driver. Don enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and traveling.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Vicki Curtis; five children, Jaccinna Curtis Salyers, Bridgette Curtis Dishman, Christopher Curtis (wife Dawn), Kellie Teal (husband Mike), and Rhonda Funkhouser; three brothers, Franklin Curtis, Jim Curtis, and Tim Curtis; a brother-in-law, Victor Schrader (wife Alice); 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, at 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston, Indiana, with military honors conducted at the funeral home by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
