Doris M (Pierson) Britton

Doris M. Britton, 93, of Yorktown, passed away Thursday,  March 9, 2017 at Yorktown Manor.

Doris was born May 23, 1923 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Addison and Elsie (Parkinson) Pierson. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1942. In 1942 she married Roger W. “Jack” Britton. She was a homemaker. She spent her time completing word searches, reading, playing euchre, crafting, and playing games. She enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She attended Yorktown Church of Nazarene.

Doris is survived by her six children, Donna Johnson (husband Robert) of Ocoee, FL, Jackie Clark (husband Keith) of Springfield, OH, Carolyn Gibiser of Muncie, Jennifer Prather (husband Brad) of Alexandria, Alicia Morgan (husband Phil) of Eaton, and Roger Britton (wife Lori) of Yorktown; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother Bill Pierson of IL; and many  nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Addison and Elsie Pierson; her husband, Roger W. “Jack” Britton; two brothers; four sisters; and son-in-law, Robert Gibiser.

A funeral to celebrate Doris’s life will be held on Saturday March 18, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Robert Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hawk Cemetery in Yorktown.

Family and friends may gather to celebrate and remember from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday March 18, 2017 at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Doris.
