Dorothy Edna Sweet, 93, of Athens, AL, formerly of Gaston, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023.
Dorothy was born on July 2, 1930, in Pulaski County, Kentucky to the late George and Polly Ann Haste. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed attending flea markets, cooking, gardening, and flowers. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Morrison (husband Terry) of Bellefontaine, OH and Bonnie Collins (husband Rick) of Athens, AL; five grandchildren, Rodney, Karen, Ryan, Jaime, and Amber; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Henry Sweet; five brothers, Lee, Roy, Dennie, Ray, and Ralph Haste; and two sisters, Margaret Hester Waters and Christine Wesley.
A funeral service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Monday, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
