Douglas T. Rees

Douglas T. Rees, age 80, of Waterville OH, passed away on January 12, 2021 at Kingston Rehab Center in Ohio.

Doug was born May 26, 1940 to the late Jack and Anna Belle (Townsend) Rees.  He was a 1958 graduate of Yorktown High School.  He went on to spend 32 years with the NS Railroad as a signalman and maintainer, retiring 15 years ago.  It was a job he loved and was so proud to be a part of, making so many friends during his career.

During his younger days he was very active in coaching women’s softball, playing softball himself and looking for a good basketball game.  He was an avid guitar player in the Muncie area and was quite the artist and poetry writer.  He was proud to have been a referee at the Pan Am Swim Meet in Indianapolis. 

Doug is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 23 years, 5 children, Doug Jr (Tina); Andi Stump; Liz Reynolds; Brandi Rees; Annie Rees; 2 stepsons, Dustin (Jessica) Krukowski and Cory (Kalyn) Krukowski along with 17 grandchildren and 16great grandchildren; sister Susan Rees Daniel; brothers Sam Rees (Susan) and Riley Rees (Linda); 3 nieces, 2 nephews and many wonderful loving cousins and friends.  

Doug is preceded in death by his parents Jack and stepmother Fern Rees and Mother Anna Belle Rees.

A memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St., Yorktown, IN 47396. Burial of Doug’s ashes will immediately follow in Hawk Cemetery.  

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel. Please follow Covid-19 mandated rules.
