Douglas L. Shaw, 51, of Gaston, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Muncie.

Doug was born June 12, 1964, in Muncie to David and Dana Shaw. He graduated from Wes-Del High School in 1982. He married Shelia (Terry) Shaw on April 9, 1988. Doug was a mechanic and truck driver. He had worked for Key Chevrolet, Stoops Automotive, and Ag-Best Co-op. Doug enjoyed NASCAR, motorcycles, and spending time with his family.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Shelia Shaw; his mother, Dana Shaw of Gaston; daughter, Brittany Shaw (husband Skylor Eley) of Muncie; grandson, Conner Eley of Muncie; brother, Steve Shaw of Gaston; brother-in-law, whom he raised, Jerry Parks of Muncie; Jerry’s three children, Ciera, Loralye, and Dalton; a niece, whom he raised, Tara Davidson; and several other nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, David Shaw; maternal grandparents, Luther and Stella Deadman; paternal grandparents, Bill and Ruth Shaw; and an uncle, Jerry Shaw.

A funeral service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston. Pastor Nick Bouse will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 11, 2016 and one hour prior to his service on Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Doug.
