Elaine (True) McVicker
After 92 years of sharing her kindness, support, love, and unforgettable smile with everyone she encountered—from her family and friends to store clerks and even customer service representatives—Elaine McVicker entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on May 10, 2024, surrounded by a family that loves her beyond measure.
Elaine was born on January 23, 1932, to Lloyd and Lillian (Davis) True, the only girl among three brothers. She attended Muncie Central High School, where she met the love of her life, Tom McVicker. They married shortly after their 1950 graduation and created a love story for the ages. After raising their children near Gaston, Elaine and Tom moved to Englewood, Florida, where they lived for 22 years before returning to the Muncie area. They had just celebrated their seventy-third wedding anniversary on May 4th.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, her brother Lee True, her niece Judi Stough, and her nephew David True.
She is survived by her husband and their children, Debbie McVicker Lynch, Jerri Rhonemus (Mike), and Steve McVicker (Meredith). She is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer (Rhonemus) Brunner (Josh), Lauren (McVicker) Trent (Colin), Megan McVicker, Kevin Lynch (Whitney), Elaine (Lynch) Dahm (Jack), Austin McVicker, and Alex McVicker, along with great-grandchildren Jack Brunner, Jace Brunner, Frances Trent, Graham Trent, Oscar Lynch, Griffin Dahm, and August Dahm. She also leaves behind her brothers Ron True and Terry True (Sharon), several nieces and nephews, and her special grandniece, Melanie (Stough) Omasta (Steve) and their daughter Callie.
Elaine and Tom were long-time active members of Grace Baptist Church, Muncie. According to Elaine’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held with Pastor Rory Bond officiating. Arrangements are being coordinated by Gant Funeral Homes. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, Muncie.
