Elizabeth Marie Collins, 65, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at her home in Muncie, Indiana.
Elizabeth was born on December 26, 1958, in Muncie to Ronald and Barbara Mixell. Elizabeth earned her bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University, becoming a respiratory therapist. She worked for BMH, Riley Hospital for Children and at many locations in Alaska. She was a member of St. Mary Church for many years and an American Association of Respiratory Care president. She was the co-founder of the Alaska Asthma Camp for kids and had even received an award from the state of Alaska for her work there.
Elizabeth enjoyed the outdoors, watching birds and being in the wilderness. She was an amazing cook, making the world’s best cherry pie and always making the holidays so special.
Elizabeth is survived by her father, Ronald Mixell (Sandy), a sister, Debbie Mixell, a brother, Andy Mixell (Cristine), a sister-in-law Jill Marlow-Mixell, 2 nieces: Jaclyn and Jessica Mixell, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother Barbara and brother Joseph Mixell.
A Mass to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at St. Mary Church, 2300 W. Jackson St. Muncie. Burial will be at a later date in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s honor to Praise Academy at Lakeside, 1434 Yale Ave. Shreveport, LA 71103.
