Faustine King, 92, of Yorktown, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Faustine was born on August 1, 1932, in Muncie, Indiana to the late James ‘Ollie’ and Mabel Childs. She was a 1951 graduate of Yorktown High School. Faustine worked as a secretary at Ball Corp., and in the Yorktown High School Guidance Counselor’s Office, finally becoming the director of the Yorktown School system cafeteria.
She always wanted to be a beautician and at the age of 50, she followed her dreams and attended beauty school. As a cosmetologist, Faustine joined the team at Heritage Salon and before retiring she worked at the Yorktown nursing home beautifying the elderly.
Faustine spent a great part of her life traveling. She experienced the splendor of 49 states. She and Ron were members of the Good Sam’s club, which allowed them the camaraderie of others who loved to travel and camp. With her zest for life, she even joined a square-dancing club. She spent her winters in Bradenton, FL and was a member of the Golf Lakes Association. Faustine and Ron were active members at the Yorktown Methodist Church, and she shared her love of Christ with all.
She was the pillar of strength for her family, offering unconditional love, prayer, and care for them all. Faustine was known for many things: her compassion, kindness, limitless faith in both God and her family, grace, gentleness, beauty, strength and wisdom. Her interests included cooking, camping, gardening, watching birds, sewing and making everything as perfect as she could.
Faustine is survived by two daughters, Kera Saunders (husband Randy) and Kim Witty (husband Alan), two granddaughters, Tiffany Anton and Caitlin Young; three step grandchildren, Stephanie Wilkerson, Andrew Witty, and Alison Witty; a great-grandson, Chae Anton; and five step great-grandchildren, Zachary Coopman, Spencer Weathers, James Witty, Everett Miles, and Emmitt Miles.
Faustine was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Ronald King, who was the love of her life; her five brothers, James Childs, Arnold Hayden, Harold Hayden, Everett Hayden, and Earl Hayden; and five sisters, Helen Rich, Beth Basicker, Lucile McKinley, Freda Sipe, and Bernice Foust.
