George Allen “Al” Garrett, 82, of Yorktown, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at his home in Yorktown.
Al was born on August 22, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to the late Fred and Nannie Garrett. He attended schools in both Chicago and Kentucky. Al started his career at RCA in Marion and went on to retire from General Motors in Marion in 1999 after 30 years. After retirement Al worked for Hoosier Park Casino. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports, especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Roxanne Garrett; two sons, Dustin Garrett and Toby Garrett; six grandchildren, Kalib, Angela, Uriah, Marissa, Elizabeth, and Nathan Garrett; six great-grandchildren, Emma Alspaugh, Theo, Owen, Jerry, Tracey, and Katie Garrett; and many extended family and friends.
Al was preceded in death by a son, Scott Garrett; and a brother, Henry Lee Garrett.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, September 30, 2024, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown.
