Gregory Alan “Rooster” McKibben, 70, of Gaston, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home in rural Gaston following a four-year courageous battle with cancer.
Greg was born on April 7, 1954, in Muncie, Indiana to the late William and Wanda McKibben. He was a 1972 graduate of Cowan High School. Greg worked for Borg Warner for over 32 years. After retirement he worked for Carson’s Department Store and Garden View Funeral Home. Greg was a member of the Gaston Main Street Church and the Gaston Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling to the mountains.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Cinda McKibben; four children, Chad McKibben (Heather), Justin McKibben (Shannon Fahlsing), Amy Abrell (Tom), and Lisa Mauller (Brian); a sister, Cherlynn Bennett (Darrell); nine grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Nathan Bennett and numerous additional nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Roxanne.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm Sunday with A memorial service to celebrate Greg’s life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the Gaston Lions Club, 7449 W. 850 N. in Gaston.
