Helen Loise Harrold, 106, of Gaston, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson.
Helen was born on July 17, 1918, in Gaston, Indiana to the late Hugh and Mona Boyle. She was a 1936 graduate of Gaston High School. Helen married Howard Ross Harrold in 1936. They were married 73 years before his death in 2009. Helen graduated from Amber’s Beauty College and worked as a hairdresser. She owned and operated The Country Shop for over 30 years. Helen was a member of Prairie Grove Church, Indiana Hairdressers Association, and the Players Club Lady Golf League. She enjoyed golfing, quilting, reading, and baking cookies.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Tamara Carmin ( William) of Anderson; two daughters-in-law, Grace Harrold of Gaston and Diana Harrold of Muncie; nine grandchildren, Rhonda Pennington (David) of Elwood, Bradley Carmin (Stacey) of Gaston, Jon Harrold (Tammy) of Gaston, Kevin Harrold (Michelle) of Gaston, Darcie Williams of Plano, TX, Lisa Ellison (Greg) of Yorktown, and Maria Hayes (Bradley) of Alexandria; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Helen was preceded in death by three children, Mitchael Harrold, Mark Harrold, and Joe Harrold; a grandson, Mike Harrold; two sisters, Kathleen holiday and Carolyn Hazzard; and a brother, Marshall Boyle.
A graveside service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Thompson Cemetery in Gaston.
