Howard G. York 76 of Muncie passed away unexpectedly at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, IN.
Howard was born in Jamestown, TN May 26th, 1939 to his late parents, John Henry and Artha (Cravens) York. He graduated from high school from the York Institute. He worked for the Muncie Warehouse, Indiana Bridge Company, until its closing and went to work and retired in 2002 from Borg Warner. He attended church at New Hope Church in Muncie and Yorktown Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Howard loved to fish, and enjoyed the fish fry's and large family gathering.
He is survived by the love of his life, Carolyn York of 42 years. One son, Scott Cox of Yorktown. One brother, Jerry York , wife-Virginia of Muncie, Three sisters; Matilda Crabtree, husband Roger of Daleville, Betty Rhyme of Clemson, SC and Shirley Majeroni of Topeka, KS. Four grandchildren; Brandon Cox, wife-Kimiko, Andrew Cox, Abigal Cox and Shelby Cox.
Three special great-granddaughters; E'va, Addisyn and Charli. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Greg Cox and a brother. Odell W. York. Two sisters, Stella Mae Bowmer and Nell Tidwell Copley.
A Celebration of Howard's Life will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at the Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown chapel with Pastor Anthony Harris officiating. Burial and Military honors will follow in the Elm Ridge Cemetery, west of Muncie.
Friends may call Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Military Honors will be provided by U.S. Army and the Veteran's of Delaware county.
