Jack Reed Atkinson

Jack Reed Atkinson, 65, of Whetstone, AZ, formerly of Yorktown, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Reed was born on October 28, 1958, to Frank and Myrna Atkinson. He was a 1976 graduate of Yorktown High School and went on to serve proudly in the United States Marine Corp. Reed worked as a roadbuilder for many years. He was a member of the Yorktown Christian Church and the American Legion. Reed enjoyed golfing, hunting, and cooking BBQ.

Reed is survived by two sons, Josh Atkinson (Jamie Spearman) and Christopher Gage Atkinson; his mother, Myrna Atkinson; two brothers, Tim Atkinson and Todd Atkinson (Sharon); his girlfriend, Janice Copeland; and two former wives, Kristy Atkinson and Melissa Atkinson; and several nieces and nephews.

Reed was preceded in death by his father, Frank Atkinson; maternal grandparents, Gola and Irene Reed; and paternal grandparents, Gordon and Virginia Atkinson.

A graveside service to celebrate Reed’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St. in Marion, IN. Burial of Reed’s ashes will follow in the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Reed.
