James M. Broyles

James M. Broyles, 73, of Gosport, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel, Indiana.

Jim was born on April 6, 1948 in Muncie to the late Melville and Julia “Louise” (Johnson) Broyles. He graduated from Westfield High School. Jim was a lifelong truck driver, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #135. Jim enjoyed tinkering on cars, farming, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kathryn (Glotzbach) Broyles; five children, James E. “Bo” Broyles (wife Charity), Michelle Broyles Freeland (husband Robert), Robyn Chambers (husband Joel), Brandi Owens (husband Chuck), and Angie Jackson; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Timothy Broyles (wife Suzzi) and David E. Broyles (wife Regina); a great nephew; and three great nieces.

Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Broyles.

A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St., Gaston, IN 47342. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
