James E. Wright

James E. Wright, 71, of Gaston, Passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 in at the Golden Living Center in Muncie, Indiana following a lengthy fight with Alzheimer’s disease.

James was born January 10, 1945 in Jamestown, TN to the late Riley and Dolly (King) Wright. He graduated from Alvin C. York High School in 1963 and went on to earn his degree as a Diesel Mechanic at Tennessee Tech. He also served as a United States Army National Guardsman. He retired in 20065 after 37 years as a Machine owner operator at Warner Gear. James attended the Antioch Church of the Brethren and had also attended the Gaston United Methodist Church. James was a member of Knights of Pythias and the U.A.W. James was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing softball in his younger years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Pamela (Miller) Wright; two children, Krista Vance (husband Jay) of Gaston and Shelly Wright of Gaston; three grandchildren, Justin Vance (wife Lauren) of Wentzville, MO, Allison Whitehead of Gaston, and Sarah Vance (fiancé Luke) of Marion; three great-grandchildren, Levi Vance, Elsie Vance, and Milo Whitehead; a brother, J.E. Wright (companion Cindy) of Muncie; sister-in-law, Vicki Murphy (husband Chuck) of Gaston; brother-in-law, Gary Miller (wife Pam) of Poseyville; his best friend, Dana Hensley of Muncie; his dogs, Sally and Porky; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Thelma Wright; Mother-in-law, Lois Fraizer; brother-in-law, Jerry Miller; and his dog, Susie.

A funeral service to celebrate James’ life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2016 at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston, Indiana. Pastor Michael Osborne will officiate with burial to follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2016 and also one hour prior to service on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
