Janet S. Crook

Janet S. Crook, 68, passed away on Tuesday evening, May 10, 2022, at her home in Yorktown.

Janet was born on July 17, 1953, in Frankfort, Indiana to the late James and Rose Crook. She was a 1971 graduate of Yorktown High School. Janet was a United States Army Veteran. Janet worked as a clerk and department manager at several area grocery and convenience stores, including Marsh, Village Pantry, and Publix. Janet enjoyed sports and played on adult softball teams. She enjoyed watching the Cubs, Colts, and Purdue basketball.

Janet is survived by her sister, Cathy Rumler; two nephews, Duane Brooks (wife Jaime) and James Brooks; a niece, Audrey Wayman (husband Nathanael); seven great-nieces and nephews, Rilynn Brooks, Brannon Wall, Isaiah Wayman, Zoey Wayman, Macey Wayman, Micah Wayman, and Vincent Brooks; two great-great-nephews, Milo Brooks and Nevada Barker-Brooks; and her friend and caregiver, Barbara McNew.

A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, May 16, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Nathanael Wayman will officiate. Burial of Janet’s ashes will be in Elm Ridge Memorial Park at a later date.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
