Janice “Penny” Ann Denney, 72, of Gaston, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Penny was born on January 15, 1949, in Worley, Kentucky to the late James Lester Clark and Oreeda (Reynolds) Foster. She was a 1967 graduate of Southside High School in Muncie. Penny worked at Life Touch for 30 years. She was a member of the Gaston American Legion. Penny enjoyed her flowers, reading, and antique shopping. She was an animal lover who fed all the neighborhood cats. Penny was known for her sarcasm and sense of humor. Penny did anything for anyone and never expected anything in return.
Penny is survived by her husband of 29 years, Mark Garrison; two children, Michelle Burns (husband Joe) and Christopher Denney; four grandchildren, Alyssa Clevenger (husband Aaron), Alex Young, Austin Denney, and Morgan Denney; two great-grandchildren, Mia Cardenas and Sawyer Clevenger; her sister, Patricia Smith; and two nieces, Jacquelyn Mitchell and Mandy Smith.
Penny was preceded in death by a grandson, Skyler Denney; brother, Jack Mitchell; niece, Teresa Smith; and two nephews, Richard and Michael Smith.
Penny’s wishes were to be cremated. Her family will hold a celebration of Life for her, to be determined at a later date.
