Jerry L. Bennett

Jerry L. Bennett, 88, of Gaston, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in rural Gaston.

Jerry was born on November 25, 1935, in Muncie, Indiana to the late Arley and Arvada Bennett. He was a 1954 graduate of Muncie Central High School. Jerry worked at Delco Battery in Muncie for over 40 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 489. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gardening, and woodworking projects.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosalie Bennett; three daughters, Jerri K. Smith (husband Brian), Judy Vester (husband Mike), and Jennifer Riddle (Butch Terwiske); four grandchildren, Luke Smith, Kathryn Smith, Megan Muller (husband Jeff), and Mischon Vester; three great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah E. Smith; son-in-law, Scott Riddle; sister, Betty Sue Smith; and two brothers, Jack Bennett and Larry Bennett.

A funeral service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, August 19, 2024, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston. Jerry’s son-in-law, Pastor Brian Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery in Matthews, Indiana.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
