Joy “Jo” Clevenger, 89, passed away on May 20, 2021 at her home in Matthews, Indiana.
Joy was born on February 24, 1932 in Matthews to the late Raymond and Alice (Hazelbaker) Wright. She was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson Township High School. Joy married Charles Clevenger on August 11, 1956. Joy worked in the Dining Commons at Taylor University before her retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Aux. in Fairmount and enjoyed bingo, scratch off tickets, puzzles, and her flowers.
Joy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Clevenger; three children, Karen Fanning (husband Sam), Michele “Shelli” Greer, and Phil Clevenger; four grandchildren, Tera Keller, Tommy Fanning (wife Karla), Kyle Fanning (wife Shelly), and Tyler Roth; 12 great-grandchildren, Ethan Keller, Olivia Keller, Justin Graham, Luke Graham, Breanna Graham, Sierra Graham, Addison Fanning, Emmilyn Fanning, Laykin Fanning, Nolan Fanning, Shaylee Nottingham, and Ashley Kemble; three great-great-grandchildren, Lily Graham and Annelise Graham, and Zora Graham; sister-in-law, Joyce Niccum; best friend, Mary Spence; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joy was preceded in death by three sisters, Phyllis Liming, Jackie Moorman, and Mary Lou Slater.
Joy will be cremated, and her ashes buried at Matthews Cemetery during a private family service at a later date.
