Kenneth "Kenny" R. Lasley

Kenneth Lasley, 74, of Yorktown, passed away on August 8, 2021, at the Sarah Cannon Oncology Research Institute in Nashville, Tennessee following a courageous battle with cancer.

Kenny was born on June 24, 1947, in Winchester, IN to the late Rev. Lloyd and Yvonne (Fouse) Lasley. He was a 1965 graduate of Gaston High School and went on to earn his LPN license from Anderson School of Nursing. Kenny was a United States Army veteran serving two tours in Vietnam. He worked at Westinghouse for 33 years before it closed. He then worked 10 years at St. John Hospital in Anderson before his retirement. Kenny was a member of the Gaston American Legion.

Kenny was an amazing human-being. His kind soul, gentle spirit and magnetic personality were qualities that made him a friend to everyone he met. Kenny loved his family. He was an outstanding husband and proud father and papaw. He was a quiet man, his love for nature also made him a pied piper to all animals. Throughout his life he was an avid runner. He loved sports, especially baseball. Each morning in his retirement years he spent quality time at Morrow’s Meadow in Yorktown. The peaceful atmosphere calmed his soul. Kenny’s passion for life was strong. Throughout his struggles with cancer, he remained hopeful for the future, in the end, his call to home was greater than his strength to stay.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Stephanie (Cook) Lasley; three children, Krissa Benefiel (husband Judd), Jason Lasley (wife Kristin), and Travis Lasley (wife Julianne); seven grandchildren, Micaela, Morgan, Jake, Luke, River, Theo, and Forrest; a sister, Lynn Iseley (husband David); and several nieces and nephews; and too many friends to count.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Lloyd and Yvonne Lasley; and a sister, Becky Atkinson.

A funeral service to celebrate Kenny’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Jeff Ellis will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery in Gaston.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
