Larry E. Williams, 75, of Yorktown, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Larry was born on September 4, 1947, in Muncie, to the late Charles and Brona (Manring) Williams. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Yorktown High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Purdue University in 1971 and his master's degree from the University of Nebraska in Food Science and Technology in 1993. Larry moved frequently throughout his adult life and held many positions with different companies. He returned to Delaware County in 2005. Larry was a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, Eagles and Odd Fellows. He enjoyed attending and entering car shows with a preference for MG’s and VW’s. His current prize was his 1973 VW Thing and he was very excited about his newest project vehicle, a VW Bus.
Larry is survived by four children, Lori Williams, Dan Williams (wife Gabby), Jason Williams (wife Carrie), and Juli Williams; eight grandchildren, Jacie, Dani, Devon, Viviana, Brooklynn, Sebastian, Cameron, and Anabel; two sisters, Marilyn Fite (husband Walt) and Martha Whitinger; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Whitinger Jr.
A funeral service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, January 23, 2023, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Matthew Leffler will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunderland Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday, January 22, 2023, and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
