Lesta (Jones) McClain

Lesta McClain, 99, of Yorktown, passed away Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017 at American Heritage Partners Assisted Living in Yorktown, IN.

Lesta was born April 13, 1918 in Morehead, KY to the late William and Sarah (Foster) Jones. She worked at Marsh Supermarket for 22 years where she was the manager of the delicatessen before she retired. She was a member of the Yorktown Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, bowling, and traveling with her husband to Dale Hollow and Florida.

Lesta is survived by her two children, Christine Bigham (husband Owen) of Yorktown and Jim McClain of Yorktown; six grandchildren, Larry Cox (wife Shon), Melissa Cox, Thomas Bigham (wife Shauna), Jeffrey Bigham (wife Deborah), Bruce McClain (wife Kristin), and Derek McClain (wife Jill); fifteen great- grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Lesta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Chester McClain; daughter, Virginia Cox; three infant grandsons; eight brothers; and four sisters.

A funeral service to celebrate Lesta’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St.  in Yorktown, IN. Services will be conducted by Thomas Bigham. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July, 29, 2017 at Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Yorktown Christian Church, P.O. Box 505, Yorktown, IN 47396.
