Marjorie Louise Smith, 85, of Anderson, formerly of Muncie, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson after an extended illness.
Marjorie was born September 20, 1931 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Albert and Hattie (Jones) Crouch. Marjorie was a lifelong resident of Muncie and attended Muncie Central High School. In 1948 she married James Smith. She was a homemaker who enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and many crafts. She was an avid Muncie Central Bearcat fan. She was a member of Westside Church of Christ.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, James “Jim” Smith; three children, Carol Porter (husband Monty) of Anderson, Carl Smith (wife Belinda) of Yorktown, and Chuck Smith (close friend Carol Niccum) of Yorktown; three siblings, Carolyn Mendenhall (husband Skip) of Muncie, Barbara Johnson of Greenwood, and
Albert Crouch Jr. (wife Soni) of Marion; eight grandchildren, Brandy Porter, Brook Volpe (husband Tony), Justin Smith (husband Gabe Thayer), Dewayne Smith (companion Whitney Austin), Nicole Paddock (husband Mick Waight), Nate Smith (wife Jesse), Natalie Daugherty, and Caleb Smith (fiancé Kinzie Shea Baker); nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to celebrate Marjorie’s life will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Meeks Mortuary, Washington St. Chapel at 415 E Washington St. in Muncie. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Marjorie’s friends and family may gather to share and remember two hours prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon at Meeks Mortuary, Washington Street Chapel.
