Mary "Helen" (McKinley) Hughes

Mary “Helen” Hughes, 90, of Muncie, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Morrison Woods Health Campus.

Helen was born on May 23, 1932, in Muncie. She was a 1950 graduate of Muncie Central High School. Helen worked as lead hostess and supervisor at Westinghouse for Servomation. She was a current member of Glad Tidings Church and past member of the South Side Church of the Nazarene where she still had many friends. She was also a member of Farm Bureau and a local Home Ec. Club. Helen enjoyed swimming, mall walking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her husband of 12 years, Darrell Hughes; three children, Terry Grim (wife Rea) of Muncie, Kathy Gant of Yorktown, and Elaine Casados (husband Randy) of Dripping Springs, TX; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her father, Harry McKinley; mother, Amy Moore; husband, Robert Huffer; and two sisters, Juanita Malotte and Ruth Strong.

A funeral service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2022, at Glad Tidings Church, 3001 S. Burlington Dr., Muncie, IN 47302. Pastor Kevin Holt will officiate. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Friday at the church.
