Mary Anne (Ellerman) Young

Mary Anne Young, 88, of Muncie, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Mary Anne was born on July 6, 1935, to the late Stanley and Velva Ellerman. She was a 1953 graduate of Greensburg High School. Mary Anne was a homemaker and had also worked at JoAnn Fabric. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mary Anne enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, gardening, genealogy, and antiquing.

Mary Anne is survived by two sons, Christopher Young (wife Kelly) and Todd Young (wife Deborah); four grandchildren, Kip Chamberlin (wife Kimmy), Kasey Wilson (husband Kurt), Katie Guerdan (husband Andy), and Kiser Chamberlin; two great-grandchildren, Kingsley Chamberlin and Archie Guerdan; five nephews, Scott Ellerman, Rick Young (wife Jackie), Tim Young, Bob Young (wife Michelle), and Cary Young (wife Trudy); and a sisters-in-law, Suzanne Ellerman and Mary Ann Young.

Mary Anne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Doug Young; a brother, Bill Ellerman; and brother-in-law, Dave Young; sister-in-law, Ruth Young.

A funeral mass to celebrate Mary Anne’s life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2300 W. Jackson St. in Muncie. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown.
