Michael Prewitt Obituary

Michael Alan “Mike” Prewitt, 69, of Yorktown, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

 

Mike was born on July 13, 1951, in Dixon, Illinois. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School. Mike worked as a journeyman and machinist for Zimmer Paper Company for over 45 years before his retirement in 2009. Mike enjoyed baseball card and coin collecting. He also enjoyed working on cars and watching NASCAR and drag racing.

 

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dixie (Toney) Prewitt; two daughters, Tracy Prewitt (Danny Goodlet) and Michelle Whitaker (Scott); three grandchildren, Matthew Gamble, Steven Prewitt (Cheyenne), and Daniel Prewitt; two sisters, Betty Harness and Debbie Dattilo; two adopted daughters in heart, Micah Keesling and Amber Piper; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Elizabeth Dahl; and a brother, Charles “Chuck” Prewitt.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Southeastway Park, 5624 S. Carroll Rd., New Palestine, IN 46163.
