Michelle Diane (Spolarich) Thornburgh

Michelle Diane Thornburgh, 34, of Muncie, entered the arms of Jesus on Saturday morning, March 15, 2025, at IU Health Methodist Hospital following a brief illness.

Michelle was born on March 28, 1990, in Muncie, Indiana to Steve and Jackie Spolarich. She was a 2008 graduate of Muncie Central High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s in teaching from Ball State University. Michelle married Wes Thornburgh on August 7, 2010. Michelle was proud to be the special education teacher at Yorktown High School. She was a member of Victory Church in New Castle which is part of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ. Michelle never met a stranger, made friends everywhere she went, and had a servant’s heart. She enjoyed trips to the beach, music, and dancing. Her greatest joy was her husband and three girls.

Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Wes Thornburgh; three daughters, Chloe, Gi, and Skylee Thornburgh; her parents, Steve and Jackie Spolarich; two sisters, Renee Spolarich and Fabrianne Kendall; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Michelle was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Spolarich; grandmother, Thelma Glandon; grandfather, Andrew Spolarich; and grandparents, Kenneth and Margie Hill.

A funeral service to celebrate Michelle’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Union Chapel Church, 4622 N. Broadway Ave., in Muncie. Pastor Wes Comer will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, and two hours prior to the funeral on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Union Chapel Church.

Memorial contributions may be given to a scholarship fund in Michelle’s memory. Checks can be made to Yorktown High School with a memo of Michelle Thornburgh Scholarship Fund.  Contributions can be mailed to Yorktown High School, 1100 S. Tiger Dr., Yorktown, IN 47396.
