Nancy Ellen (Loser) Janney

Nancy Ellen Janney, 78, of Gaston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.

Nancy was born October 21, 1938 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Everett and Lulu (Thomas) Loser.  She attended Gaston High School where she participated in cheerleading and the pep squad. She returned 30 years later to receive her G.E.D. Nancy worked as a study hall teacher and custodian for Wes-Del Community Schools, retiring after many years. She worked the polls for nearly 60 years, starting when she was 17. She was capable of doing anything she put her mind to; such as maintaining a farm with her husband, taking care of live stock, to crocheting, painting, cooking, and interior decorating. Nancy enjoyed bowling, ceramics, and spending time with her family. She loved all she met and was loved by many. Her love made everyone she met feel important.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Max Janney; seven children, Lennie Collins of Gaston, Monty Collins of Gaston, Teena LaVoie (husband Keith) of Muncie, Jaci Simmons (husband Todd) of Muncie, Karen Janney-Haymaker (husband Kenny) of Muncie, Jean Anne Janney-Hiatt (husband Steve) of Muncie, and Michael Janney of Gaston; two siblings, Barbara Wolfe (husband Alan) of Virginia and Tom Loser (wife Karen) of Matthews; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Lulu Loser; two children, Dean Collins and Shelli Collins; and two siblings, Alice Bartle and Ronnie Loser.

A funeral service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston, Indiana. Pastor Michael Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2016 and also one hour prior to services from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
