Reva Mae Esche, 93, went to heaven on June 15, 2023. Reva was born on September 10th, 1929, to Floyd and Anise Curtis. In 1950, Morris Esche and two of his friends decided to steal the coats of Reva Mae Curtis and two of her friends in an effort to meet them. This happened at Kings Ranch near Dallas, Texas at an Agricultural Youth Convention. After dating for six weeks, Morris and Reva got married. They were married for 55 years and had four children, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Reva grew up on a dairy farm in Yorktown, Indiana and had several Belgian Draft Horses. Reva graduated from Yorktown High School in 1947 and attended Ball State University. She worked at the Cinderella Shop in Muncie, Indiana. She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels, Contact Help and Home Instead Elder Care.
She was an excellent homemaker, wife and mother. She stood by her husband as he shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ to inmates in Indiana jails and prisons for 35 years. Reva and Morris were baptized at the same time by their best friend, Reverend Norman Wallace of Columbus, Indiana.
Reva was preceded in death by her parents (Floyd and Anise Curtis), her husband (Morris Esche), her sister (Betty Jean Reed) and daughter (Gail Esche Wilson).
Reva touched the lives of hundreds of people. Reva was the matriarch of her family: children, Paul (Gail) Wilson (Pendleton, IN), Debra Boston (Middletown, OH), Alan and Chris Esche (Pendleton, IN), Curtis and Sharon Esche (Hamilton, OH). Grandchildren: Tom (Robin) Boston of Charlotte, NC; Joe (Nancy) Boston; Allison (Jason) Terry of Zionsville, IN; Aaron (Arlene) Esche of Oakwood, Ohio; Alex (Caroline) Esche of Pendleton, Indiana; Christian Esche of Hamilton, Ohio. Reva also enjoyed her nine great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a private graveside service to bury Reva’s ashes at a later date.
