Rita (Shaw) Stump

Rita Stump, 72, of Gaston, passed away on March 16, 2021 at her home in Muncie, Indiana.

Rita was born on April 7, 1948 in Anderson to the late Lowell and Anna Shaw. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School. Rita married Max Stump on February 14, 1988. Rita worked as a waitress at Petro, formerly Red Amick for almost 28 years. Rita was a member of Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church and the Gaston American Legion Auxiliary. Rita enjoyed word search puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Max Stump; four children, Harry Dale Adams, Rodney Dwayne Adams, William Henry Adams, and Melissa Richards (wife Christina); brother, William “Bill” McDaniel; sister, Paula McGillis; a grandson they raised, Rodney Dwayne Adams II and seven additional grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Dora Auler.

A funeral service to celebrate Rita’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St., Gaston, IN 47342. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, Friday at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Gaston American Legion, 101 N. Sycamore St., Gaston, IN 47342.
