Robert N. Buck

April 26, 1926 ~ August 4, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Robert N. Buck, 87, of Gaston, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with Cancer.

 

Bob was born April 26, 1929 in Fentress County, Tennessee to the late Virgil and Vina (Pritchard) Buck. Bob joined the United States Army to protect his country during the Korean War. He owned and operated Buck’s Barbershop in Muncie and retired from Westinghouse / ABB after 30 years of employment. Bob enjoyed listening to gospel music, watching and reading Westerns, and fishing. He enjoyed Reds Baseball and watching basketball; He made many lifelong friends at the YMCA and while running the many mini marathons over the years. Bob was an avid gardener who was always willing to share his crops with his family and friends, especially tomatoes. Nothing was more important to Bob than time spent with his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchild.

 

Bob is survived by his two sons, John R. Buck and Ronald R. Buck of Gaston; two grandchildren, Brittany Mullaney (husband Vincent) of Pendleton, and Greg Buck (wife Kelly) of Carmel; a great-grandson, Andrew Mullaney of Pendleton; two siblings, Walter Buck of Muncie and Eula Reynolds (husband Frank) of Muncie; a special niece, Barbara McNeely (husband Don) of Gaston; and several other nieces and nephews.

 

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda (Vannatter) Buck; and several brothers and sisters.

 

A graveside service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Thompson Cemetery in Gaston, Indiana. Pastor Gene McComas will officiate with military honors conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

 

Memorial contributions may be given to the Little Red Door at 2311 W. Jackson St. in Muncie, IN 47304 or the American Cancer Society at PO Box 22478 in Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
