Robert E. "Bob" Nichols

Robert E. “Bob” Nichols, 90, an 85-year resident of Cammack, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Morrison Woods Health Campus.

Bob was born on November 26, 1930 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Virgil and Geneva (Garver) Nichols. He attended Yorktown High School and worked for Colonial Bakery for 35 years. Bob was a member of the Cammack United Methodist Church where he was a past Deacon. Bob was also a past member of the Eagles Lodge. Bob enjoyed riding his 3-wheel bike around Cammack, working with his hands, and making people laugh.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Teresa Hofherr (husband David) of Yorktown; two siblings, Myrnajean Howe of Muncie and Charles Nichols (wife Nola) of Muncie; four grandchildren, Aaron Hofherr (wife Ricci) of Summitville, Greg Hofherr (wife Wendy) of Pendleton, Brian Nichols of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and Amanda Smith (husband Scott) of Moyock, NC; five great-grandchildren, Kiara Nichols, Dylan Hofherr, Grant Hofherr, Evan Hofherr, and Addison Hofherr; daughter in law, Karla Myrtue; special nephew, Richard W. “Dick” Howe; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Nichols; son, David Nichols; granddaughter, Sally Nichols; sister, Mary Elizabeth Nichols; and brother-in-law, Richard E. Howe.

A public graveside service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 27, 2020 at Hawk Cemetery in Yorktown, Indiana. Bob’s family asks that facemasks be worn.

Calling hours will be private prior to services at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.

Bob’s family would like to thank Bonnie Lynn, and the staff at American Heritage for caring for Bob like family. They would also like to thank Morrison Woods and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice for caring for Bob during his final days.
