Rosa E. Bales, 93, of Muncie, entered the arms of Jesus on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Yorktown Manor.
Rosa was born in her family’s home in Redkey, Indiana on December 23, 1931, to the late Bert and Mabel Stephen. Rosa was a wonderful mom and homemaker and will be greatly missed. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and time spent with her family.
Rosa is survived by two children, Shirley Applegate (husband Dave) of Yorktown and Diana Bell (husband Rollie) of Muncie; three grandsons, Mark Ransom (wife Connie), Brad Ransom (wife Cinde), and Chad Rose (wife Cathy); five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashley, Toni, Caleb, and Ian; a sister, Margeret Stemen (husband Al); and additional step-grandchildren, step-greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Rosa was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Roy Bales Jr.; son, Jason Bales; three brothers, Jake, Denzel, George, and Floyd Stephen; and two sisters, Naomi Alfrey and Helen Mizner.
A funeral service to celebrate Rosa’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
Rosa’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Yorktown Manor for their care and to special nurse, Juliet. Also, to ViaQuest Hospice for their care and concern.
