Rosemary Ann (Doughty) Reed

March 4, 1930 ~ May 20, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Rosemary Ann Reed, 86, went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2016 at her home in Muncie, with her family at her bedside.

 

Rosie was born March 4, 1930 in Harrison Township, Indiana to the late George and Hazel Doughty. Rosie worked for Anchor Hockey in Winchester for 8 years in the late 50’s then became a housewife to stay home with her three children.  She then later went to work for Meridian Foods in Eaton, for a short time after her family was raised.  She was a long time member of Eaton First Church of God until she moved to Muncie and began to attend a closer church Northside Church of God where she is currently a member.  Rosie was involved with her Sunday school class at Northside and they were the Light of her Sunday morning.  Everyone in her class was special people to her.  She loved greeting people at the door on Sunday mornings before church and handing out bulletins, and also being an usher occasionally on Sunday.   

 

Rosie was a woman who was dedicated to her family.  She loved camping and fishing with her husband when he was living.  They had a camper at Bozarth Campground at Salamonie Reservoir for around 40 years, and would spend many weekend there taking grandchildren with them, after Bill passed away she continued to go and take the grandchildren. Rosie was a member of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed attending Forest Park Senior Citizens Center and playing Bingo. She was a Mall Walker at the Muncie Mall for many years and made many friends   Rosie was a very personable woman and never met a stranger. 

 

Rosie is survived by her three children:  Steven W. Reed (wife Sunny) Gaston, William H. Reed (wife Debra) Muncie, Susan E. Kelley (husband, Michael) Muncie; nine grandchildren:  Steven D. Reed (wife Amy), William CA Reed (wife Shannon), Stephanie D. Clapp (husband Larry), Jana A. Melton (husband, James), Gregg Reed, Angelina Conatser (husband, Michael), Tiffney Kelly, Brian Eber (wife, Jan), Kim Simmons (husband, Kelly); seventeen Great-Grandchildren:  Logan Leland, Devin Conatser, Jacklin Williams, Cierra (Charles) Enochs, Hailey Blankenship, Dylain Kelley, Emmalee Conatser, Rebekah Kelley, Rilie Conatser.  Campbell Reed, Hunter Reed, Lincoln Reed, Evan Reed, Chloe Reed, Noah Reed, Levi Reed, Mercy Reed, and Adrionna Welton; One Very Special Great-Great-Grandchild:  17 month old Charlie Enochs the son of Cierra and Charles Enochs; several siblings: Gorge Doughty, Ridgeville, Verba Doughty, Yorktown, Floyd Doughty, Yorktown, Bill Doughty, Selma, Ferrell Doughty, Yorktown, Jack Doughty, Yorktown, Alta Renner, Yorktown: and several nieces and nephews.

 

Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years William A. Reed in 1996, her father George Doughty and mother Hazel Doughty.  Three sisters, Margaret Dudley, Vivian Loser, Betty Batt, and one brother James Doughty. 

 

A funeral service to celebrate Rosie’s life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown, Indiana. Pastor Steve Delisle will officiate. Burial will be in Hawk Cemetery.

 

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 23, 2016 and also one hour to the service Tuesday at Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown Chapel.
