Shane Stout Obituary

Shane Alan Stout, 50, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 14, 2022, at his home in Yorktown.

 

Shane was born on November 8, 1971, in Muncie. He was a 1990 graduate of Yorktown High School where he played 3 years of varsity baseball.

 

Shane had a profound impact on travel baseball in Indiana and across the country. He became the president of the Indiana Prospects in 2016 and held the position until his passing. During that timeframe, Shane helped facilitate college baseball placement for over 250 players across the country. Shane also saw 58 players drafted into Major League Baseball with 5 players making the big leagues.

 

Shane was a legendary storyteller. He could tell stories that would have everyone doubled over roaring with laughter. He also enjoyed watching his favorite teams, IU and the Atlanta Braves. He most cherished his time spent with his family and children.

 

Shane is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Nysha Stout; four sons, Austin, Brady, Casey, and Dylan Stout; his mother, Vicki Howard; sister, Courtney Howard-Duncan; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

 

Shane was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jim Howard; Parents-in-law, Mike and Carolyn Parker; and two nieces, Allie Parker and Cassidy Duncan.

 

A funeral service to celebrate Shane’s life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Jason Rice will officiate. Cremation will follow services.

 

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 19, 2022, and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to establish an annual scholarship in memory of Shane. Please send donations to Indiana Prospects, PO Box 3712, Muncie, IN 47307.
