Walter Lewis’ spirit, after 92 years on earth, went home to be with Christ Jesus at 6:00 pm on March 16, 2024, at his home in Gaston, Indiana.
Walter was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. At an early age, he knew he had to become an artist. After high school and serving the Army during the Korean War, he obtained formal art training at Pratt Institute, followed by four years at the Art Students Leage, where he was a life member.
While working in advertising in New York, he continued to paint, winning many honors and awards.
Following retirement from the advertising business, Walter moved to Indiana. He exhibited in many major art exhibitions in Indiana, including, The Hoosier Salon, Brown County Art Gallery, and the Lafayette Museum of Art, again winning many awards.
Walter was affiliated with the Gaston Main Street Church in Gaston, Indiana.
Walter Lewis (Vladimir Luciw) will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by family and friends.
